Palin for National Cheerleader

Who won the debate? If you value critical thinking and facts, then Biden won. If you value style, then Palin won.

I don't know exactly who Joe Sixpack is, but I'm guessing that it's the working guys who build our highways, homes, fix our plumbing, drive pickups and stop off on the way home to pick up a six pack of beer. They should be insulted by Sarah Palin. They should be insulted and offended that McCain regards them as unable to respond to anything more than knee jerk phrases like Mom, God, Flag, Country. McCain and Palin are saying to this large segment of our society that they have to dumb down their campaign to get their vote. I hope Joe Sixpack proves them wrong.

There wasn't much content in what she said, but her smile and pretty face masked the emptiness of her mind. She was obviously regurgitating memorized talking points from her prep sessions at McCain's home in Arizona. She was very good at using those talking points to answer whatever question she was asked. In one instance, she just refused to answer the question and launched into her talking points. I felt that Biden had reserve power when he was talking and Palin was walking on the edge.

One of the most disturbing answers was her response on vesting additional power in the Vice President and the Unitary Executive theory. I doubt that she understands this, but her response would give more power to the VP than Cheney has. That's consistent with her answer to Katie Couric about the biggest mistake that Cheney has made. She said it was his hunting acccident! These are the complicated issues that are missed by those people who respond like Pavlov's dogs when they hear Mom, God, Flag, Victory, and Freedom.

On style, she exceeded my expectations. She was much more confident than I expected her to be. I saw signs of stress, but when she got into her comfort zone, energy, she lit up that smile and went to work. She even winked at the camera.

Overall, it was like Biden was auditioning for VP, and she was auditioning for national cheerleader.
