Al Qaida Endorses McCain?

Here's an interesting item in the news this morning. It appears that Al Qaida is giving some kind of endorsement to McCain.

Al-Qaida supporters suggested in a Web site message this week they would welcome a pre-election terror attack on the U.S. as a way to usher in a McCain presidency.

The message, posted Monday on the password-protected al-Hesbah Web site, said if al-Qaida wants to exhaust the United States militarily and economically, "impetuous" Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain is the better choice because he is more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"This requires presence of an impetuous American leader such as McCain, who pledged to continue the war till the last American soldier," the message said. "Then, al-Qaida will have to support McCain in the coming elections so that he continues the failing march of his predecessor, Bush."

I've always thought that Bin Laden was one Bush's strongest supporters because he knew he could sucker Bush into an irrational, violent and angry response and get him right where he wanted him - occupying a country in the Middle East with a 150,000 American troops who are easier targets than the U.S. mainland. Bin Laden has played The Joker to Bush's Batman. He has succeeded in bringing out the worst in this country, draining our resources, and luring Bush into compromising some of the most cherished principles of our society. I have no doubt that he would love to see McCain carry on the Bush strategy - such as it is. We need a president who is smarter than Bin Laden.
